As part of the official Star Rating process for all schools in Nevada, the Star Rating includes three school level designations- Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI)/Rising Star Schools, Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) and Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI).

In Nevada, every school must create a School Performance Plan each year. This plan focuses on three key areas: Student Success—ensuring students achieve their academic goals, Adult Learning—helping teachers and staff grow professionally, and Connectedness—fostering strong relationships among students, families, staff, and the community.
In Humboldt County School District (HCSD), we believe that students, staff, parents, and community members all support helping our schools grow and improve. Nevada uses a system called the Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF) to rate schools on a scale of one to five stars, with one star being the lowest and five stars being the best. This rating helps us understand how schools are performing and where they need to improve.
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires Nevada to have three levels of support, known as school designations: Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI), and Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI). McDermitt Junior High is classified as CSI because it falls into the lowest five percent of schools based on its NSPF score. McDermitt High School is also designated as CSI due to a graduation rate below 67%. Once a school receives this designation, it must show progress for three years before it can be re-evaluated for improvement.
The chart below highlights key information about McDermitt Combined School performance, reflecting last year’s results.
