School board recognizes food service director
Laura Jensen, food service director for the Humboldt County School District was honored at the school board’s Aug. 27 meeting.
Jensen has done an outstanding job as the school seeks to replace the outgoing Director of Food Service Michael River. River resigned to pursue other opportunities.
“We lost Michael River who resigned and moved on to a different job opportunity and Chartwells is doing a great job to try to fill that vacancy,” Superintendent Dave Jensen told the board members. “They have selected somebody to take Michael's spot. But during the summer months, Laura has had to take a tremendous amount of responsibility on her shoulders to prepare for the upcoming year.”
In addition to taking on the responsibilities of director, Laura Jensen also oversaw the recent reduction in the district’s backpack program. “She has worked tirelessly to ensure that we're identifying all of our students that are eligible for free and reduced lunch,” Dr. Jensen said.
Jensen has been with the district for four years.
“She has been phenomenal to work with and the amount that she's taken on to her shoulders during this transition, we just want to personally express our appreciation for your hard work and dedication.”
