District Celebrations for 2-25
The Humboldt County School Board of Trustees recognized a group of dedicated teachers. These teachers have retired but were encouraged to continue engaging with schools and students.
“I am thrilled tonight to recognize folks who left the Humboldt County School District and then on their own accord actually chose to come back and help us in a variety of ways,” District Assistant Superintendent Dawn Hagness said. “A few years ago we were really struggling with completing all the testing requirements and so Noel [Morton] just kind of reached out to [Dr. Jensen] and said ‘How much money do you have and would you be willing to look at some retired folks.’”
Hagness said the individuals recognized have a variety of tasks throughout the district, but most are assigned a specific school. “They go out, take care of it and it takes the pressure off our administrators, our school counselors [and] aides. And we are just so thankful that they choose to come back and work with our teachers and our administrators and our kids,” Hagness said.
Other retired staff who were recognized include Linda Walton, Vicki Meissner, Sandy Cipra, Marlene Killion, Keith Harrison, Keeli McClintock, Kitty Norcutt, Jim Matthews and Barb Pope.
